Blue Monday 2024

You might think Blue Monday is the most depressing day of the year, but that's a myth.

Today, the third Monday, on January is said to be “Blue Monday” – the most depressing day of the year when you are financially ruined by Christmas, the amount of sunlight is at it’s shortest and you are returning back to either work or education.

We had previously believed that some very smart people wearing lab coats had been behind the discovery of this phenomenon, but it was actually a travel agent looking to promote holidays in sunnier parts of the world. Blue Monday is actually a myth (Mental Health Foundation).

The reality is that a Mental Health problem can affect us at anytime of the year. The symptom of acute depression or anxiety can affect us when the sun is shining, your overdraft is completely healthly and you’ve achieved all your goals that you set at the start of the year.

Instead, this Blue Monday, we want to give you a list of people and services you can talk to that can help. We’d also like to tell you about our upcoming BritChallenge that aims, along with others across the UK, to remove the stigma of Mental Health and raise awareness of some of the support available.

You and your Mental Health are important.
