Abby Teague - Manifesto for North, West & Hebrides Depute President (West)
Hi! I am Abby, a second year Adventure Education student, and would love to be your NWH Depute President (West). My mission is to ensure that every student is heard and has the best possible experience at UHI by advocating for the issues that matter most.
What I pledge to do:
- Always listen:
I will operate an open door policy and always listen to students. I would love to hear any suggestions for improvements to the University, whether they pertain to academics, activity or well-being etc. I will use your feedback and voices to make your University experience as valuable and worthwhile as possible.
- Help Student clubs:
As an active member of several UHI clubs and the president of the UHI Wild Swimming club, I understand the value these clubs provide to students. I am also aware of the challenges many student clubs face, and I am committed to campaigning for increased support to address these issues
- Increase well-being:
I plan to create a variety of events and workshops to support student welfare such as Therapets or soup evenings. Last December I organised a daily wild swim to support student welfare and would love to run other events to further promote well-being.
It is very important to me to ensure struggling students can access the help they need by developing existing mental health initiatives within UHI NWH.
- Improve student experience:
As I enter my third year at university, my active involvement in many UHI activities has given me a solid understanding of the UHI experience. I want to use this knowledge and your voices to drive positive change
