In life, some of the best things to be enjoyed are created when two separate entities are brought together. Song and dance, Ant and Dec, gin and tonic to name only a few. This couldn’t have been truer than when, on a quiet Friday at the UHI Moray campus in Elgin, the art department met UHI Scribblers, a writing club formed by students on the Creative Writing degree course.

This was the idea of Joan Scott a student at Elgin studying for her degree in Art. Joan’s course required to host and run a workshop encouraging students to work together on a project and for her assignment Joan looked to UHI Scribblers for some inspiration and help.

With Joan’s expert guidance. Art books of mixed media could be created from inspiring poetry supplied by UHI Scribblers. The subject of “nature”’ was discussed and poetry read and, with four members of UHI Scribblers in attendance, it wasn’t long before they and the Art students taking part had found inspiration and the creative juices were flowing.

It's clear that this collaboration between the two UHI degrees worked spectacularly well. The finished art books are inspiring, beautiful and thought provoking.
