Students and staff from across UHI Perth came together to celebrate the people who make our campus community so special at the 2026 OBI (Outstanding, Best and Inspiring) Awards. Organised by HISA Perth in collaboration with UHI Perth, the annual awards shine a spotlight on the incredible achievements, dedication, and impact of students and staff across UHI Perth.

Now in its 14th year, the OBIs received a record 554 nominations from students and staff highlighting how committed students and staff are to creating a vibrant and supportive student experience at UHI Perth.

This year’s celebration featured guest speakers Colin Munro, Chief Executive Officer of HISA, and Jill Elder, Depute Principal of UHI Perth, who welcomed attendees and reflected on the importance of recognising the people who help shape the student experience. Closing remarks were delivered by Chris Whatley, Vice Chair of the UHI Perth Board of Management. The celebration also featured performances from the music industries courses and refreshments prepared by hospitality staff and students making it a truly collaborative showcase of Perth excellence.

Andi Garrity, HISA Perth President, said:

“Last year we achieved a record number of nominations, and we’ve broken that record again this year. Every single nominee has made a real impact at UHI Perth, and whether you’re taking home an award or not, you should be incredibly proud.

“One of the best parts of the process was handing out the nominee invitations and seeing people read the thoughtful comments written about them. It was amazing to see how appreciated and valued people felt.”

Catherine Etri, Interim Principal and Chief Executive of UHI Perth, added:

“The OBI Awards are a chance to recognise what makes UHI Perth such a special place — our students, our staff, and the supportive community we build together.”

Join us as we celebrate the winners, highly commended, and all of the nominees who really go the extra mile for students!
