Congratulations to our wonderful winning Student Voice Reps - who win a certificate and cash prizes!
We're delighted to share the results of our 2026 Student Voice Rep (SVR) Impact Competition, where SVRs across UHI were invited to share stories about the great things they have done to improve the learning and wider student experience over the 2025-26 year. As with last year, this competition was made possible thanks to kind sponsorship from Enterprise car hire.
A panel of judges with personnel from HISA and UHI, including our Vice-President Education, recently met to assess submissions. The following awards were made:
- Gold Award: Rhianna Tapp, HNC Bioscience, UHI Moray.
- Silver Award: Lauren Innes, Level 3 Diploma Performing and Production Arts, UHI Moray.
- Bronze Awards:
- Millie Barr-McIvor, SVQ Level 5 Hairdressing, UHI Perth.
- Chlöe Jenner-Parson, NQ Outdoor Activities and Leadership, UHI Perth.
Our judges commended our winners for a range of impacts on the lives and learning of their fellow students, and the way they had drawn on our SVR training and worked in partnership with their course staff. From doing research into their classmates' views to supporting extra-curricular clubs and societies, winning entries testified to the many ways in which SVRs can improve learning, support and community among students.
Rhianna's Gold Award-winning submission showed a deep understanding of the student learning experience and how SVRs can contribute to enhancements and improvements on matters as wide as curriculum content, progression, timetabling and student behaviour, and she showed how she had undertaken surveys of her fellow students to gather and represent their views and experiences.
Lauren's Silver Award came in her first year as an SVR and was given for a range of enthusiastic contributions to the learning experience including demonstrating clear and enthusiastic communication with both staff and students, as well as volunteering at college open days.
Millie's Bronze Award was for conscientious support to classmates, and for working with teaching staff, college management and HISA on complex feedback from students. Fellow Bronze Award winner Chlöe has been instrumental in building community among her classmates, working closely with staff and students on topics such as littering, and the establishment of a climbing club.
Award winners will receive a certificate and prize money of £200 (Gold), £100 (Silver) and £50 (Bronze). We are sharing stories from our award winners in various ways across UHI, and we will be recruiting for SVRs next academic year and hope to continue to celebrate and reward the great impacts they have on learning and the wider student experience.
