Who Am I?
My name’s Kian McDonald, and I’m a second year student at the Scottish Association of Marine Science looking to go down the Marine Biology pathway.
What Position Am I Running For?
I am running for the SAMS Depute President position
What Would I Do If I Ran?
One of my aims as an officer from last year was to work on inclusivity within SAMS, and developing on this, I hope to continue working on the placement of gender neutral toilets on campus. It is important for all students and staff – new and old – to feel welcomed throughout UHI, and this is one of the steps forward to fulfil this.
Continuing to build on connections between the UHI campuses would be another aim of mine, ensuring that SAMS is able to continue to work closely with other APs in both activities, support, and general queries.
My final aim as an officer would be to consider a range of different student events. The SAMS campus is surrounded by some of the most stunning landscapes I have seen, and it would be a waste not to take this as an opportunity for student events. This would also be great to link with the cross-campus interactions, as it would allow the opportunity for events to occur throughout the association that would bring everyone together.
Why Should You Vote For Me?
I believe that voting for me for the SAMS Depute President would be a great opportunity for the students, as I am great at taking on board ideas and feedback whenever the students have anything they want to add, and I am also able to manage things on my own. This is useful for the students, as it means that if there are any urgent issues, I can independently find a solution, or figure out who is the best person for the issue,
Where And How Should Students Vote For Me?
You can vote for me online on the 11th-14th of March at https://hisa.uhi.ac.uk !!
