- Why did you become a Trustee at the Highlands and Islands Students’ Association?
I worked at UHI for nearly 20 years and helped with various iterations of the Students' Association over the years. When I left the university, I was very pleased to continue my relationship with HISA as an outsider with a lot of insider knowledge.
- Briefly tell us about your role?
I am the Chair of the Finance and Commercial Development committee, as well as the 'student data queen' building on my position at the university of Head of Student Records.
- What is your fondest memory of being a student?
I went to the University of Michigan for both my undergraduate degree (a joint degree in biopsychology and speech pathology/audiology) and my Master of Fine Arts (in Playwriting). My fondest memories seem to centre around late-night conversations with an amazingly wide range of people, eating pizza and listening to music as we put the world to rights.
- What inspires and/or motivates you?
My entire career has been in student-related posts. I just want students to be treated fairly, and to have a good experience in their tertiary education.
- What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I have been on the board for over two years. I hope I have already brought a bit of stability to the board along with a supportive but questioning attitude that ensures HISA will continue to represent the students of UHI in an effective and nurturing way.
