Caroline MacPherson

Development Manager - North, West and Hebrides

Caroline is the Development Manager for the North and West Region, which involves managing the local teams of elected officers and local coordinators at UHI North, West & Hebrides, UHI Argyll and the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS). Her role is to support the local teams to encourage student engagement and improve the student experience while nurturing relationships with academic staff and local communities.

Caroline has a long history with the Students’ Association. While studying towards a Business Management degree at UHI, Caroline became the first ever HISA Depute Lews Castle college (Former name of the former UHI Outer Hebrides) for the newly established Highland and Islands Students’ Association in 2015 and re-elected the following academic year, returning to the Students Association as a local coordinator in 2021 and then later being promoted to her current position.

Most recent achievement is project managing the Students’ Associations side of the Rural and Islands Colleges Merger project working closely with the colleges to ensure that the student voice was at the centre of all decisions in the development of the new college.
