Moray President

Charlotte Usher

Hi, my name is Charlotte and I am the Moray HISA President.

I’m passionate about students being able to reach for the stars and go beyond what they thought possible. UHI Moray has been crucial in so many people achieving what they didn’t think possible.

I came to UHI Moray in 2017 (which means I have been a part of UHI Moray only a couple of years less than HISA has) after a bad case of imposter syndrome ruined an amazing opportunity when I won a place on the BBC Scotland, Room to Write Comedy Writing Forum. I’d spent over ten years raising children (of the furred and non-furred varieties) and realised that I had lost my confidence. I decided to do something about it and applied to come to college.

I started out doing City and Guilds Level II & III In Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 5&6) at Linkwood, UHI Moray. I'm also part way through an HNC in Digital Design and Web Development at UHI Moray.   I graduated this year from the BAH in Creative Writing in the Highlands and Islands. Currently I’m studying the MSc Psychology (Conversion).

My goal is to have a campus that feels safe, comfortable and easy to navigate. A place where students have fun whilst they learn.
