Celebrating Neurodiversity
At the Highlands and Islands Students' Association, we celebrate neurodiversity as a vital part of our community, recognizing that different ways of thinking, learning, and processing the world make us stronger together. We value the creativity, problem-solving skills, and unique perspectives that neurodivergent students bring to our campus, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and empowered to thrive. By embracing neurodiversity, we not only create a more enriching student experience but also build a culture of acceptance, innovation, and mutual understanding that benefits us all.
What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity is the natural variation in how people think, learn, and process information. It acknowledges that neurological differences—such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and others—are a normal and valuable part of human diversity. Instead of viewing these differences as deficits, neurodiversity emphasizes the strengths and unique perspectives they bring.
