MCR Pathways is a one to one mentoring programme that takes place in secondary schools across Scotland, including 7 within Highland. We are seeking volunteer mentors from all walks of life, to provide relationship-based mentoring, for just one hour per week, in school during school term time. Our vision is that all young people who are care experienced, or experiencing vulnerability, have equality of educational outcomes, career choices and life chances with their peers.
MCR Pathways carefully matches young people with their mentor, based on shared interests, career aspirations and personality. The one hour per week could involve anything from having a chat, playing a board game, going for a walk in the school grounds, or helping with homework; but the main thing is to be there as a supporting adult in the young person's life. The results for our young people are exceptional and we know that mentors also get so much from the experience.
Currently, the seven schools in Highland where we are seeking mentors are Wick Academy, Lochaber High School, Invergordon Academy, Alness Academy, Dingwall Academy, Inverness High School and Inverness Royal Academy.
