Moray Depute President

Emmaleigh Hay

Hello, I am Emmaleigh Hay, I'm 17 years of age and I’m the depute president at Moray college. I am an UAL (University Arts London) level 3 art student here at Moray, I'm studying different medias or art to hopefully become a tattoo artist one day. An interesting fact about my course is every year we have an art gallery of all our work open to the public to come look at; we base our final project for the piece we will set up in the gallery. My role as a local officer includes, recruiting svrs, setting up and running meetings, replying to emails and plan events that will help students feel happy and supported during their time here throughout the academic year. My priorities are to help all students feel included and supported no matter the background may be. I decided to go up for this role because as a student myself, I wanted to do something good for the community, be the students voice for any difficulties that a student faces on a day-to-day basis. This year I have been included in speaking in inductions and soon I will be visiting high schools around the local areas to speak about what college life is like to ease students' anxiety that might be planning to come to college. I am also currently planning and will be attending open days on the 12th and 20th of February 2026 for LGBTQ+ history month, along with helping plan for other events that the team in Moray have already pitched. When I'm not in class or at work I like to go out and spend time with my friends, and I help my mum look after my 2 younger siblings as well as my little cousins and niece when we have them over.
