The Highlands & Islands Students’ Association (HISA) will be holding a referendum on the following question between Monday 30th March and Wednesday 1st April 2026:
“Should the Highlands & Islands Students’ Association (HISA) leave NUS UK and NUS Charity?”
Why is this referendum being held?
A motion to hold a referendum on whether to leave NUS UK and Charity was passed at the All Student Meeting (ASM) held on Wednesday 5th November 2025.
How can I vote in this referendum?
UHI students will be able to vote online at www.hisa.uhi.ac.uk/vote by signing in with their UHI log on details between 10am on Monday 30th March and 4pm Wednesday 1st April 2026.
How can I campaign in this referendum?
Any UHI student wishing to campaign either ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ in the NUS Membership Referendum is required to register as campaigner and attend the relevant NUS Referendum Campaigners Briefing session.

The deadline for registering as a campaigner in the NUS Membership Referendum is noon (12:00) Friday 13th March 2026.
