Humanities Hubs: seeking students' views

Is your course in the Humanities degree scheme? Do you want to meet fellow students at your nearest campus? Then tell us your views!

A group of students collaborate

The experiences of online students - including students on UHI's Humanities Degree Scheme - is a key priority for HISA. While we hear your feedback about the tools and support for online learning, we also know many students want to come together in person more often, and this is especially the case in the Humanities Degree Scheme, where a number of similar degrees are all taught online.

So in the first semester of 2026-27, we are working with UHI staff to pilot the idea of "Humanities Hubs". And we need your ideas! Humanities Hubs would be what you, the students, want them to be. But ideas include...

  • Visiting and using campus facilities, such as the library, student services, HISA office or cafeterias.
  • Meeting with fellow Humanities degree students socially.
  • Getting involved in HISA's many clubs, societies and networks.
  • Sharing ideas about learning with each other or with your Student Voice Rep.

What do you think?

We're running a survey until 20th May to gather feedback from Humanities degree students. Based on your views we'll then make plans for a pilot in the autumn!

And in the meantime, don't forget you're always welcome to pop into our offices at various campuses, join our many Student Groups including our Digital Students' Network, volunteer to be a Student Voice Rep, and contact our Advice Service - wherever you are in the Highlands and Islands or beyond.
