Manifesto

Candidate for the position of Orkney Depute President

Mila Tabone

Hi!

Who am I?

  • My name is Mila Tabone. I am currently in my first year of my Archaeological Science Bsc at UHI-Orkney.

What role am I running for?

  • I am running for Orkney Depute Officer.

What would I do if I ran?

  • As an international student I came from a whole other school system before starting at UHI. It was a bit scary and confusing at first, but with some help and advice from more experienced students I managed to get my footing after a while. I was thinking it might be interesting for HISA to organise a session during induction week with general inns and outs to MyDay and Brightspace, for any local or international students who might be interested.

  • I would very much like to organise crafting sessions for students to be able to engage further with each other outside of their respective courses. I am experienced in historical crafts, but it would be fun to learn more and for students to share their crafting knowledge!

  • I also pledge to do my utter best at fighting against the stereotype of horns on Viking helmets. It is a cause very close to my heart as both a Norwegian and a history-nerd.

Why should you vote for me?

  • I have previous experience as a student representative for all my three years of high school, and additionally as student representative at the school board during one of them.

  • I am already actively engaged in HISA as president of the Living History Student Society.

  • The only place I tolerate horns on Viking helmets, is in “How To Train Your Dragon”.

Where can you vote for me?

  • The HISA website. If-If you’re reading this, and not already on the website,
