Vice President of Education
Hey everyone! I’m Andi, and I’m running to be your Vice President of Education to represent students from all UHI campuses.
Over the past two years, I’ve served as a local officer at UHI Perth, first as the part-time 2024-25 Perth Depute President and now as full-time 2025-26 Perth President. In this time, I’ve worked closely with students on the issues that matter most: cost of living pressures, access to support, and building a strong student community.
I've taken those concerns directly into decision-making spaces, including UHI Perth’s Board of Management and Learner Experience Committee. I’ve already been involved in discussions relating to UHI Transformation as a student board member, ensuring the student voice was represented during key stages of change.
I've also co-led a project through the Scottish Tertiary Enhancement Programme to improve language accessibility across Scotland’s colleges and universities. Separately, I’ve been involved in the Student National Housing Campaign, engaging with 92 MSPs across the UHI region to protect rural students during Stage 3 of the Housing (Scotland) Bill 2025.
If I’m elected, here’s what I’ll focus on:
-
Protecting the Student Experience During UHI’s Transformation:
UHI is undergoing significant change, and I know there is uncertainty about how this will affect students across campuses. I will work to ensure that student feedback already gathered is reflected in implementation and decision-making. Students should not feel like change is happening to them without their voice shaping it.
-
Ensuring Your Voice is Meaningful:
When students raise concerns, they deserve outcomes. I will ensure that issues brought forward by students, reps, and officers are acted upon at every level of UHI and HISA. Representation should be about real impact, not just attendance in meetings.
-
Working with Local Teams to Make Sure No Campus is Left Behind:
Local HISA teams and Student Voice Reps understand the day-to-day realities of their campuses, including the experience of online learners. I will work closely with them to ensure cross-campus decisions reflect real student experiences and that every campus feels connected and supported.
I care deeply about getting this right, and I don’t take representing students lightly.
For me, being Cross-Campus Vice President of Education means listening to students, taking action, and standing up for the students I represent. I’m ready to bring my experience, energy, and passion to the Cross-Campus role and I would be truly honoured to have your support.
Thanks for reading, and I hope I can count on your #1 vote!
