Candidate for the position of Moray President

Charlotte Usher

My name is Charlotte Usher and I am standing for the UHI Moray HISA President.

In 2025, after a long and winding road, I graduated with a BAH in Creative Writing in the Highlands and Islands. The journey has not always been easy, but UH (in particular UHI Moray) has helped me not only reach my goals but exceed them.

When I returned to UHI Moray in 2017, my confidence was low, and I wasn’t sure where I was heading. Since then, I’ve also studied City & Guilds Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level II & III at the Linkwood Campus, and started an HNC in Digital Design and Web Development. I am currently taking a break from my HNC to pursue an MSc in Psychology (Conversion)  through UHI Inverness. Living in Forres, UHI Moray is my local academic partner.

I want to use my experiences to help shape the future of UHI Moray in a way that places student voices front and centre. I know what UHI Moray can do for students, and I’m passionate about helping others push beyond their own goals.

Student Voice – Ensuring your opinions influence how learning spaces and experiences are designed.

Accessible Transport – Making travel to and from UHI Moray easier and more affordable.

Campus Life – Making tertiary education engaging, social, and fun.

Celebrating UHI Moray – Highlighting what makes our academic partner unique and fostering pride in our achievements.

Safe & Inclusive – Standing up for a diverse, welcoming, and safe environment where everyone can learn, thrive, and enjoy their time.

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected UHI Moray. Let’s make our voices heard, student life fun, and our time here unforgettable.
