Our commitment: Your Student Association and UHI champion LGBTQ+ inclusion year-round. We promote understanding of pronouns and diverse identities, challenge erasure, and signpost to LGBTQ+ sexual health resources.

• Pride Student Network — UHI-wide online network for meet-ups, coffee days, and daytime events.

The HISA Gender Expression Fund – Support for Being You

The HISA Gender Expression Fund is here to help you feel more comfortable and confident in your identity at university or college.

HISA is offering and administering these micro-grants because we are committed to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and we want every student to feel supported in expressing who they are.

What is it?

This fund provides financial support (of up to £100 per student) for trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse students to access items and services that help with gender expression. This could include:

  • Clothing, binders, packers, breast forms, wigs, or makeup
  • Haircuts or beauty treatments
  • Other items that affirm your gender expression
  • Transportation to gender-affirming medical or mental health appointments

Who can apply?

Any current UHI student who needs support with gender expression can apply.

What will I get?

You can receive funding to cover the cost of the items or services you need (within the set limit). This support can be provided either through reimbursement (with receipt) or by HISA purchasing the items directly on your behalf.

How to apply

It’s simple and confidential. Email the Fund Administrator, Emma.Miller@uhi.ac.uk , with a request for the services/items you need and whether you would like to be reimbursed or prefer HISA to order on your behalf.
