Want to get fit and active in the New Year? Take part in our UHI wide January Parkrun Challenge open to all UHI students!

Run, jog, walk or volunteer at your local Parkrun which happens all over the country every Saturday. Send us evidence of taking part in January to enter a draw to win a £50 Decathlon voucher. Parkrun is a free weekly 5K community event bringing together lots of friendly people from the local area. You don't need to have any running experience to take part or volunteer- newcomers are always be warmly greeted.

There is no time limit for Parkrun and nobody finishes last.  You can register in advance on the Parkrun website to get a barcode that is scanned at the finish line to record your time. There are over 2000 events that take place across 22 different countries. It’s a great way to start your weekend- getting exercise in the fresh air and participants will often meet for a chat at a local café afterwards. There are plenty of friendly volunteers on hand if it’s your first time, who will explain the course layout and how it all works. If running, jogging or walking isn’t for you, you can get in touch with your local event to sign up to the team- there are lots of different roles available from course marshalls to barcode scanners.

Please contact amanda.fleet@uhi.ac.uk if you have any questions and see the link below to find your local event and sign up for your barcode. Happy Parkrunning!
